Learn Solidworks

Learn Solidworks Fast

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You want to start building your invention prototype but need to learn Solidworks fast. Obviously, 3D modeling software removes most of the hurdles of designing your prototype and the costs associated with building an actual working unit. The only real issues is how do you learn to use this complex software?

Invention Therapy has the answers and the help you need. There are two CAD software packages that we recommend for anyone considering a career path as a professional inventors.

Autodesk: Fusion 360

Fusion 360 is basically the modern upgrade to Autocad and Autocad Inventor. It is the perfect choice for anyone looking to design and build prototypes of their invention ideas. You will be able to easily design parts and products that can be 3D printed, laser cut, CNC machined and more. The cost for a single license is much lower than Solidworks plus they offer free, three year licenses to educational institutions and students.

Dessault Systems: Solidworks

While Autocad and its latest version, Fusion 360 can be considered the original 3D CAD design software, Solidworks has little in terms of similarities. Think of Autocad as the Mercedes of CAD programs and Solidworks as the Ferrari version. In fact, many high end automotive car manufacturers use Solidworks in their design process. Other examples of products designed in Solidworks would be Dewalt power tools and Dyson household products including their vacuum cleaners. In fact, here is a job posting from Dyson requiring skills as a Solidworks designer:

Dessault Systems is not as generous with their licensing as Autodesk and the cost for a single seat can be expensive at a few thousand dollars but the investment, in our opinion is well worth it.

Solidworks does offer great STUDENT DISCOUNTS at around $150.00 per seat.

We Love Solidworks

In fact, we believe so much in the power of Solidworks and its ability to save you time and money during the invention process that we have created many Youtube Videos to help you learn how to use this powerful design software.
